Our New Year's Resolution: More Time on the Water

2026 has arrived, and with it, the countdown to summer on Nantucket begins!

As we look out on the current quiet, wintry harbor, we can already picture our first Ice Cream and Cocktail cruises leaving the docks. Until then, we’ll soak up these last few months of calm island serenity and focus on setting our intentions for the year ahead.

Our main goal? Spend more time on the water!

Setting Intentions for 2026

Whether you’re a New Year’s resolution person or not, setting goals and intentions can be a powerful way to stay motivated and ensure your year is filled with memorable moments. If you’re looking for some ideas on how to prioritize your time and energy in 2026, below are some that might resonate with you.

reconnecting

Perhaps 2026 is the year to reconnect with old friends or family you haven’t seen in a while. Instead of meeting up with your usual crowd on the weekend, see if you can link up with those you’ve been missing. You may even want to start booking a summer reunion trip! If you find yourself on Nantucket this season, our charters are the perfect way to rekindle connections while enjoying the beautiful island air.

listening

Maybe you want to spend more time listening this year, and less time staring at screens. Intentionally carve out time for things like concerts, theatre productions, or comedy shows. For water lovers like us, you won’t want to miss our legendary Sunset Shanty Singers Cruise come June!

exploring

If you’ve been looking for ways to form more connections in your community, make 2026 the year to do it.

Check out a new local cafe, join a community club, or volunteer at an organization that’s important to you. Throughout your explorations, you may meet some new friends who can join you this summer on our Whaling History or Up Harbor Adventure tours!

resting

Sometimes the best intention is simply to slow down. Instead of jumping right into your inbox, try prioritizing a morning walk without your phone. Or perhaps you intentionally leave a weekend day open to let the day take you wherever it goes. For us at NBW, we feel most rested and relaxed when we’re out on the harbor – maybe the water will become your happy place this year too!

relishing in winter on the island

Winter on Nantucket is calm, quiet, and restorative. The off-season only makes us appreciate island summers more! Aside from setting intentions and working toward your 2026 goals, here are some other ways to pass the time until our charters start back up. How many do you think you can get before opening day?
